Hex Sign Painting Kits

Nurture Nature Center now has five local birds to choose from in these sign painting kits, designed by NNC’s Resident Artist, Tom Maxfield.

Are you craving something creative, colorful and joyful? These bird signs pay homage to the long history of decorative barn painting practiced by the Pennsylvania Dutch who settled this area.

These signs highlight some of the beautiful birds commonly found in our area — birds that rely on the green spaces and clean waterways of our valley and will often feed in our own backyards! Each design is symbolic of the bird and its habitat.

Each kit costs $30 ($31.80 w/ tax) and contains all you need to paint your own:
•  a 16” wooden circle painted with a base coat and printed in black ink with the design of your choice
•  a paint set with the colors needed to complete the design
  a set of paint brushes
  a touch-up marker
information about the bird, its habits and how to support a healthy environment.

We hope that these kits will be an opportunity to learn and bring you cheer. Once painted, they can be hung inside or they can be sealed and hung outdoors on a garden shed, wall or door.

Our two newest designs feature an Eastern Screech Owl and a Barn Owl!
