About the Artist: Don Wilson

Nurture Nature Center (NNC) is pleased to highlight artist Don Wilson who was commissioned to create a community-based mural (Wilson area) as part of NNC’s CREATE Resilience project funded through National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Environmental Literacy Grant program.

As an artist, illustrator and photographer, Don has published several hundred works in magazines, books, newspapers, technical brochures and advertisements. He’s exhibited artwork in about 225 venues, including galleries, museums, arts & crafts festivals, art co-operatives, libraries, corporate and state office buildings.

A prolific painter, NNC hosted a solo show of over 60 pieces of his work in 2016. The exhibit, “Landscapes Inside Out…Sentinels of Sentiment,” was a comprehensive look at his work dating back to the 1960’s. Other recent exhibits of his works include The Center for Contemporary Art, Bedminster, N.J., Artsbridge, Lambertville, N.J., and the Williams and Grossman Galleries at Lafayette College, The International Fusion Gallery, Terra Cafe, and The State Theater Annex Gallery, all in Easton, Pa.

In 2018, Don Wilson was voted “Artist of the Year” by the Arts Community of Easton. Since March of that year, he began the studies to become a Penn State Extension Master Watershed Steward and has been an active volunteer working with Fry’s Run Watershed Association (Williams Township) and the Watershed Coalition of the Lehigh Valley.

Mr. Wilson’s formal art education includes Mercer County Community College, Trenton, N.J., Tyler School of Art, Temple University, and graduate studies at California State University at Long Beach. He has taught visual arts at the secondary education level in New Jersey and Massachusetts.
