Eclipse Turnout Packs House

Solar eclipse watchers sharing the experience in our back parking lot.

What a turnout! Nurture Nature Center hosted almost 600 solar eclipse watchers on Monday August 21st during an Eclipse Party from 1- 4 pm. Visitors were treated to an informative Science on a Sphere show about the eclipse, live streaming of NASA coverage of the event, and had the opportunity to see the eclipse through two telescopes in the back of the building. Kids colored, painted, and created their own eclipse, and viewing glasses were provided to those that came.  Everyone had a great time sharing the unique experience as a community. The eclipse peaked around 2:43 pm with the moon covering about 75% of the sun. While not as astounding as a total solar eclipse, the light changed and dimmed, and as one young visitor put it, “it just felt different and cool.” The Nurture Nature Center looks forward to continuing to offer astronomy and other science programming for the community. Please see our calendar of events for upcoming programs of interest. And save the date for the next eclipse set to occur April 8th, 2024 and cross right over western PA with almost 90% coverage of the sun here in Easton.
