Nurture Nature Center is recruiting participants for two focus groups, as part of a research project with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, about the use of National Weather Service flood forecast and warning tools.
Do you live near a floodplain? Do you rely on flood warnings and alerts to know when to prepare? Do you wish you had more information about your flood risk?
Participants should live in the Easton, Pennsylvania area and be at least 18 years of
age. Participants will receive $30 and will be asked to answer questions and provide input
about various flood warning tools and products issued by the National Weather Service. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

Learn all about plants and create your own planters from recycled materials. Kids and families will learn about the parts of a plant, how plants grow, and will have the chance to taste roots, flowers, leaves, and fruits!
$7.00 per child ($50.00 for a pass for all 10 workshops). Registration required: 610-253-4432 or gsalazar@nurturenaturecenter.org.
The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) is sponsoring the event and you may provide the link to the plan website as well: http://www.pemahmp.com/. The plan is a blueprint for reducing property damage and saving lives from the effects of future natural and human-made disasters. The open house meeting gives everyone an opportunity to inform the plan and for communities to become better prepared for disasters. All including residents, local officials, industry, and academia are encouraged to attend.
Kids and families will see all of the planets and learn about the solar system through a presentation on our Science on a Sphere. Then, we will design our own planets using paper lanterns donated by Asian Ideas of Easton, PA.
$7.00 per child ($50.00 for a pass for all 10 workshops). Registration required: 610-253-4432 or gsalazar@nurturenaturecenter.org.
